Good design makes you feel something. Great design makes you feel as though you are part of something.

The difference between one hotel and another is a delicate balance of design and hospitality decisions, where aesthetics merge with service to create an immersive experience for guests. The design goes beyond simply selecting furniture to fill the rooms. Every element is considered: from the way guests move through the space, to the way it is lit or the scent of each room. It ranges from the music that is played, the sensory experience of which fabrics drape which furniture pieces, from the communal spaces to the private ones they retreat to at the end of the day. A hotel has the power to shape memories, craft experiences and touch a guest’s life far beyond their actual stay. Each guest will remember who they met, what they ate, whether they felt cared for and which details made them feel at home in an unfamiliar place. The design of the space sets the scene for all of those things and more.

In that sense, the smallest details matter. So why offer mobility solutions as an afterthought rather than a deliberate, considered part of that greater experience?

The reality is that every guest’s needs are different, and designing with them in mind will truly make a difference. The experience will linger in their memory and set the benchmark for what they measure every future stay up against. The choice to include mobility solutions that blend seamlessly into the design evokes a sense of consideration, of safety. It says to a guest that they are deserving of experiencing beauty, mobility challenges or no.

Yet it can be hard to find solutions that are designed with the same level of attention to detail as a premium interior space. For so long the only options were ones designed purely with practicality in mind, but at byACRE we decided to do things differently.

In an industry where stigma is hard to avoid, we set out to design truly beautiful mobility supports where the aesthetics are not compromised by practicality or vice versa. We chose to create rollators that could be used with pride, capturing all the best of Scandinavian minimalism – clean lines, attention to detail and premium materials; while still offering reliable support in every moment. Our products allow hotels to ensure those with mobility challenges have the same experience as every other guest, making them feel included instead of an inconvenience. Because supporting every guest well and designing beautiful spaces should not be competing priorities.
