The most memorable hotels do more than offer a place to stay: they create a connection with their surroundings. And few cities lend themselves to this dialogue quite like Paris.

Contemporary art offers a way to introduce the city’s cultural identity into a space without relying on clichés. Rather than depicting Paris as visitors expect to see it, artists such as JR and Christo invite us to rediscover its most iconic landmarks through entirely new perspectives.

In Trompe l’œil, Les Falaises du Trocadéro, JR transforms the esplanade overlooking the Eiffel Tower into the illusion of a dramatic cliffside, turning one of Paris’s most familiar views into an unexpected visual experience. Christo’s celebrated L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped similarly reimagines one of the city’s defining monuments, concealing it beneath  fabric to reveal its form, scale, and presence in a completely different light.

For hospitality spaces, works like these offer more than a reference to a destination. They invite curiosity, conversation, and a deeper engagement with the city itself. Installed in a lobby, suite, or lounge, they become part of the guest experience; offering not simply an image of Paris, but an artistic interpretation of its ever-evolving identity.

Because sometimes the best way to discover a city is to see it through the eyes of the artists who continue to reinvent it.
